SEVA BY 1500 SWAYAMSEVAKS IN CYCLONE AFFECTED AREA



Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha( RSS), Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti (UBSS) and Rashtriya Sewa Bharati(RSB), New Delhi are working together for the distribution of relief materials in the Fourteen centres of  cyclone ( Fani) affected areas. The Swayamsevaks were pressed into service for cleaning/cutting of broken and uprooted trees for the passage of the relief materials to different sites. The relief materials consisting of dry foods (biscuits, chuda(Thatched rice), jaggery, candles, match boxes, drinking water bottles/pouches, tarpaulin/polythene, medicines, dried milk powder etc. The Swayamsevaks so far  have distributed till date in two hundred sixty eight villages covering 1,64,076( one lac sixty four thousand seventysix ) affected people and have distributed cooked food to 31,213 (Thirtyone thousand two hundred thirteen) people and have distributed dry foods to 6500 individuals, 33 cartons of match boxes, 300quintals of chuda(thatched rice), 50quintals of jaggery more than 1 lac water bottles/pouches, 150cartons of biscuits, 900 saree, 150 cartons of candles, 39000 tarpauline/polythene and more than 700 people were given free essential medicines.
            Shree V.Bhagaiah ji saha sara karyavaha (Joint General Secretary) of R.S.S expressed in the press conference today that about 1569 nos of swayamsevaks of R.S.S are working day & night relentlessly to reach the Fani affected  people in distress .
            About 14 no.s of relief centres are being operated for distribution of relief materials  by the swayamsevaks in places like Saraswati Sishu Mandir, Ghodabazar, Puri, Brahmagiri, Balanga, Nimapada, Konarka, Khelar, Kanas, Dandamukundapur, Balipatna of Puri district and Sorana, Jatni , Unit-3 Bhubaneswar and Mahanadivihar, Olatpur of Cuttack district . In addition to these above centres seva campus in Mancheswar Industrial Estate is the main hub for coordination of all these centres. Moreover some more centres are being located for the smooth distribution of relief materials. In some centres cooked food are being distributed till yesterday.
            Some people have been forced to spend the whole night in the streets of Penthakata of Puri and in some areas people have started suffering from various diseases like diarrhoea and water borne diseases due to non availability of safe drinking water. Puri and Khordha districts are endemic to filarial for which they need mosquito nets and solar lanterns to overcome the darkness of those areas.
            A medical team consisting of six doctors, paramedics along with medicines are being deputed by the govt of Gujurat who will assist in treating the patients by Dhanwantari mobile medical unit of UBSS.
            We expect/request the philanthropic people and the corporate houses to come forward in the noble endeavour to help the people in distress either in cash/Kind as per the bank details indicated below.
