Kerala – CPM leader arrested for raising funds in name of flood relief campaign

Kochi. A CPM leader has been arrested for raising funds in the name of flood relief campaign by Thrikkakara police.

Ernakulam Thrikkakara East Local Committee member and municipal councilor CA Nishad was arrested following the order of the Kakkanad Magistrate’s Court.

Despite the order that individuals should not collect money directly for flood relief, Nishad has been accused for using WhatsApp group to raise fund. However, he was later released on bail.

The Thrikkakara police had filed a case against him under section 406, 417 and 420 as directed by Kakkanad Magistrate court. The complaint was lodged by social worker Maheen Kutty.

Meanwhile, Nishad approached the district court and sought anticipatory bail.
